The TV show lasted from 1951 to 1971 and earned Red three Emmy Awards. Despite his fame and success, he never forgot about his humble beginnings in Vincennes and often spoke fondly of his hometown during subsequent visits. One of his most famous Characters was the iconic Freddie the Freeloader. Red wanted to be known as One of America's Clowns.
