Arts & Culture Podcasts

WINK is an acronym for "What I Now Know," which is also the format of messaging with The WINK Hub. Each "WINK" is a piece of advice to your younger self, using the following format: "Knowing what I now know, I would tell myself at/as..." Listen along as Emma (founder of @thewinkhub) interviews guests about their WINK, specific to every single person. The beautiful truth about telling our story is that, while we've all experienced different circumstances, the lessons are often similar. Fear, Love, Growth, Anger, Loneliness. There's a collective experience all of us share on this planet. And lest you think all WINKs need to be heavy or serious, sometimes the words that your 17-year-old self needs to hear is that you absolutely cannot microwave a Capri-Sun. And your 22 year old self needs to hear not to give yourself bangs right after a breakup! Visit The WINK Hub at: https://www.thewinkhub.com https://www.instagram.com/TheWinkHub

Leaving Chalk Wherever I Go!

5/26/2020
It's DAY 50 of The 100 Day Project 2020, so I thought I'd walk you through what the daily chalk drawings you've seen all over my social media are about! In this episode, I'll fill you in on all the details of the Project and dive into some unexpected takeaways I've gained from participating. Even if you don't think you're creative, I guarantee there's something for you by joining in the fun - there's a ton of great takeaways that have nothing to do with the specific project and more to do with learning to enjoy the process. Let me know if you've done a project or have any questions about the process!

The Silver Lining

5/19/2020
Pivot, pivot… PIVOT! Ross* was saying it before it was cool, back when we could hug and go to movies. With all the recent pivoting going on with the world (and on a much smaller scale, me), I wanted to create this episode about the three perspective-shifters I'm using to turn negatives to positives! My story in this episode is about my recent job loss, but I think anyone who is going through big changes - being furloughed, reduced hours, essential workers - will hopefully find these takeaways useful! *Ross is the worst character in 'Friends,' no argument.

Power Up: Happiness is a numbers game!

12/12/2019
Today’s Power Up episode features a quote from the book “Option B,” written by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant. This book is incredible - a blend of storytelling and research, based around resilience, adversity, and joy. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’ve been incredibly moved by the stories shared. I’ll share the link to the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N8R5QD7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7SL8DbS5DTPYV As a reminder, today’s podcast is part of my new series of Pep Talks & Power Ups - 100 daily episodes designed to put some PEP in your step and POWER in your strut. Why the promises we make to ourselves matter!

12/8/2019
In this episode, I quote Brendon Burchard: “At the core of congruence are questions about how we are really living our life, not just imagining it -- to feel more congruent, we will have to be more conscious about who we are and what kind of life we want to live. We will have to be conscious in crafting and maintaining our identity." Here’s the link to Brendon Burchard’s book, “High Performance Habits:” https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1401952852/ref=dbs_a_w_dp_1401952852 Today is a longer-form episode, but did you know I have a new series of Pep Talks & Power Ups? 100 daily episodes designed to put some PEP in your step and POWER in your strut. Power Up: Give yourself a mantra!

12/6/2019
This episode features a mantra from Gay Hendricks’ book, “The Big Leap.” I finished the book this week and really like the way Gay presented the idea of a mantra as an anchor to thoughts and energy through the day. To make this practice of remembering my mantra very easy, I created a Phone Wallpaper for myself with the mantra in it. I’ll post it on my personal Instagram at http://www.instagram.com/TheDilemmasOfEmma and I’ve linked the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Leap-Conquer-Hidden-Level/dp/0061735361/ref=nodl_ As a reminder, today’s podcast is part of my new series of Pep Talks & Power Ups - 100 daily episodes designed to put some PEP in your step and POWER in your strut. Pep Talk: Are you better at remembering your positives or negatives?

12/5/2019
If you’re like me, you’re really good at remembering every awful thought, every negative act, every selfish move you’ve ever made. And I’m really good at taking those negatives and creating a false narrative about myself from them. BUT! Today’s Pep Talk episode dives into the flip side of this, thanks to a thought from Adam Grant on the most recent episode of the Armchair Expert Podcast (Ep. 163). What if we also remembered every selfless, thoughtful, kind impact we ever made? Our confidence would surely be stronger and our sense of value would be much more balanced. Take a listen and let me know what you think! Are you better at remembering the negatives or the positives? Power Up: Have a sweaty conversation!

12/4/2019
This episode features a quote from Gay Hendricks’ book, “The Big Leap.” I haven’t quite finished it yet, but it’s a fascinating study of the upper limits to our happiness, success and abundance. These self-imposed limits are often subconscious and I’ve really enjoyed exploring how they present themselves in my life. I’ve linked the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Leap-Conquer-Hidden-Level/dp/0061735361/ref=nodl_ This podcast is part of my new series of Pep Talks & Power Ups - 100 daily episodes designed to put some PEP in your step and POWER in your strut. Power Up: You’re not lame for staying home!

11/30/2019
Before being with Todd, I used to worry that our relationship wouldn’t work if we both didn’t want to do the same thing all the time. Or even worse, I would just feel like I was wrong - that going out and being social was the RIGHT thing to do and hanging out at home was the wrong thing. But this is your reminder that if you’re stuck in a narrative loop telling you that being an introvert is lame or boring, I promise you’re normal and healthy. Those lies are hard to break, but I truly believe that I am a better wife, friend and employee when I take the time to rejuvenate the way I need to. Take care of yourself however you need! Pep Talk: It’s okay to be off your routine!

11/29/2019
Today’s Pep Talk comes to you from a gas station parking lot! If you’re feeling a little off your game, sidetracked from your routine, and beating yourself up about it... you’re normal! We’re in a weekend of other people impacting our routines, and that lack of control always makes me feel a little less than great. The good news is that you don’t have to stay that way. Enjoy yourself, make the memories, and remember that tomorrow is a new day and YOU are in control of making it a great one! Power Up: Give Yourself Permission to be Happy!

11/28/2019
Today’s Power Up episode encourages you to allow your happiness, abundance and potential to flow, without feeling guilty or selfish. A perfect reminder as we enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner that embracing joy and striving to be our Best Self encourages our family and friends to do the same! This episode features a passage of Cathy Heller’s new book, “Don’t Keep Your Day Job.” I’m currently reading it for the second time, and it’s wonderful - this passage I read is an example of the motivation and comfort that shines from each page. If you aren’t a reader, give her podcast of the same name a listen! I’ll link the book down below.
