With the final BLOC weekend approaching we invited JD Twitch from Optimo, who are playing on the Friday night to do a Solid Steel mix. Along with JG Wilkes they ran the legendary Optimo Espacio weekly night at the Sub Club in Glasgow. In Hour 2 it's Kasra V, a musical explorer inspired equally by modern club music, funky balearic rhythms and epic film soundtracks.

We welcome East London producer DrumTalk to Solid Steel. He's had a string of excellent releases on labels like Soundway, Huntleys & Palmers, More Music and Crosstown Rebels and a track on the latest compilation from recent guest Moxie. It's a return for Markey Funk to Solid Steel with the Jerusalem based music producer and vinyl collector celebrating the release of his second album "Instinct: A Study on Tension, Fear and Anxiety" with a mix of music that defined its sound palette.

In Hour 1 this week we hand over to Fracture for his debut on Soliod Steel. He's been releasing quality music for many years on his own Astrophonica label, as well as Metalheads and Exit Records. We head to Durban, South Africa in Hour 2 for a Gqom mix by Nan Kol?. The Gqom genre has been getting props from the likes of Mumdance, Blackdown and Kode 9.

It's another label takeover this week with Axel Boman and Kornel Kovacs from Studio Barnhus sharing deck duties. Alongside Petter Nordkvist they've been running the Swedish label since 2010 and we get a taste of some forthcoming Studio Barnhus material. Their productions, remixes and DJ sets have always been of the highest quality and it's no exception this week. Axel Boman takes care of Hour 1 and Kornel Kovacs steps up for Hour 2.

The competition has closed and the votes have been counted for the Solid Steel Mix of the Year 2015 and we clearly ended the year on a high, as the two most popular mixes both came from December. But there were two clear frontrunners that took most of the votes and it was the Modeselektor mix from the beginning of December that you decided was Mix of the Year 2015, with Jon 1st as a close runner up.
