After an eight-year stint in the Nigerian Army, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister now faced music squarely and through the 1970s and 1980s, he elevated Fuji music to be at par by Juju music. By the 1990s however, Fuji music became the number 1 traditional music genre in Nigeria. Young Sikiru Ayinde Balogun started out as a wéré singer. In 1966, he decided that he no longer wanted his music to be limited in its reach and he created Fuji from its wéré and ajísàrì roots.
