LY 46: Shame & Guilt after Sharing Boundaries

2/25/2019
For most of us setting boundaries is terrifying. The act of sharing a boundary is already tough, but on top of that, the shame and guilt that we feel after we share can be overwhelming. In today's episode, you'll learn two ways that I've found to be very helpful in moving through shame and guilt, especially when someone expresses their unhappiness about your sharing. LY 44: Codependency & Detachment

2/11/2019
Last week, we talked about boundaries and how sharing them with others is powerful not just for yourself, but also for the person you’re sharing it with. When you give yourself permission to be you, to have boundaries, and to share them freely so others can choose to respect them (or not), you’re also giving others permission to do the same. This week, I share what I’ve learned about codependency from reading Melody Beattie’s book called, “Codependent No More.” In all of my relationships with significant others, you could usually find me following them around, a few steps behind them, glued to their side, like a little shadow. I thought whatever they thought or told me to think, I did whatever they told me to do, I ate whatever they told me to eat, all because I wanted to please them, or make them happy, or think I was a great girlfriend. I had no sense of self identity except for the one they created for me. I put all of my power in their hands, including my self worth, my value, and my happiness. In this episode, I share with you my biggest insights on codependency and how detachment has really helped me in reclaiming ME. For full show notes, please visit jessicamaytang.com/shownotes/44. If you haven't done so already, please take a moment to rate, review, and subscribe to the podcast! LY 42: Other People's Opinions

1/29/2019
Last week, we talked about the importance of allowing self doubt to come in instead of pushing it away, especially as we move towards our grand visions. This week, I wanted to talk about another common problem that comes up as we start shifting who we are being to be in alignment with our inner selves and our grand visions: other people’s opinions. In today’s episode, you'll hear how other people’s opinions, especially the ones that create not-so-good feelings within you upon hearing them, are usually expressions of their own fear. And because it's THEIR fear, you get the fine choice of deciding whether to adopt it as your own or not. For my free Self Doubt Guide, a 4 week guide to building easy daily habits for releasing self doubt so you can take leaps towards your Grand Visions, visit jessicamaytang.com/shownotes/42.

LY 41: Handling Self Doubt

1/21/2019
It's easy to think of self-doubt as something very negative. And once we think of something as negative or bad, it's natural for us to resist it, to want to run away from it, to hide from it. Unfortunately, all this does is it keeps that fearful voice shouting even louder and running around in circles frantically inside of our minds. Listen to today's podcast episode to learn how to shift your perspective on self-doubt that it can stop ruling your mind and stopping you from living out your grand vision. Please visit www.jessicamaytang.com/shownotes/41 for shownotes and to download the free Self Doubt Guide that helps you build up these new habits over time.

LY 40: 5 Ways to Connect with Inner Self

1/15/2019
Today’s episode answers one of the most common questions I get: “HOW do I connect with my inner self?” You inner self is the guardian of your Grand Vision. Without connecting with your inner self and essentially BECOMING her, there is no way for your Grand Vision to transform into your reality. Being able to connect with inner self is therefore crucial. However, when I first started this practice, I had a horrible time. I couldn't even picture my inner self, which was frustrating and left me feeling even more lost that I already felt. I wanted you to know that this is totally normal. And to share with you 5 strategies that really helped me to connect with my inner self even though I couldn't even see her. LY 38: No Right Now Vs. No Forever

9/9/2018
Telling yourself "no, right now" many times over can often result in your mind saying, "no, forever." And feeling like you can't do, think, or feel something forever leads to feelings of anger, sadness, frustration, resentment, and guilt, even. When such feelings are held up inside the body, they can manifest as physical health concerns. In today's episode, learn how you can be more aware of your "no, forevers," turn them around, and start healing your body today. LY 37: Part 3- Our Relationships Are Mirrors For How We Feel About Ourselves

9/2/2018
Part 3 of 3 in the Letting Go of Things series! Woohoo!! In this episode, Rachel helps me clear out the remaining last bits that need to be resolved around my ex. My favorite part is when Rachel describes an image she’s getting of him wearing a crown and me bowing in child’s pose at his feet, HA! It was SO TRUE! You’ll also hear me helping Rachel process her emotions and thoughts around a traumatic experience in one of her past relationships, too. A change in perspective and the ability to detach yourself from the emotions of an experience is often necessary to finally resolve the situation. Community: The fun stuff happens over in the Facebook group, The Love Yourself Community, so we hope to see you in there! If you like watching videos more so than listening to audio, you can catch the video recording of this episode in there, too! To learn more about Rachel please visit her website at myraeofhope.com. LY 36: Part 2- Surprise! I Was Not Expecting That

8/27/2018
Welcome to Part 2 in our 3-part series about letting go of things! And if you haven’t listened to last week’s episode yet, Rachel and I get together to record videos each week and the conversation we had a few weeks ago just kept getting longer and longer, so we turned it into a 3-part series. In this episode, Rachel helps me dive way deep into the resentment that I hold within me from one of my past relationships. This was a very vulnerable episode. You hear me processing this LIVE. Ego flares up multiple times. AND the stuff we talk about took a HUGE turn. I totally thought I had to work on forgiving that person because of all the awful things he put me through. And I thought it was about forgiving myself for allowing myself to be in such a vulnerable place, TWICE. But noooooo. It was actually about something entirely different... Enjoy, and thank you for listening! Here’s the link to listen on iTunes, or if you’d rather watch the video, come on over to The Love Yourself Community. LY 35: Part 1 - How To Stop Holding On To Things

8/19/2018
The episode today is the start of a longer conversation that we ended up splitting into 3 parts. So this is part 1. You’re going to hear us talk about how holding on to things, no matter how big or small, can actually affect your body and its health. Rachel shares a relatively “minor” upset that she’s found herself holding on to all these years and you’ll hear us helping her process it together. It eventually turned into a discussion on semantics and how different words have different meanings in different cultures. And since we live in America, there are a ton of different cultures. Like Iowa culture different from LA culture. We talk about how understanding that we have a very very limited use of words can help us to remove our attachment to our meanings behind them, not take things that other people say so personally, so we don’t store the upset in our minds and bodies. Please enjoy and thank you for listening!! For full show notes, please go to jessicamaytang.com/shownotes/35. To learn more about working with Rachel, please go to myraeofhope.com. LY 34: Making All The Wrong Decisions

8/12/2018
Do you constantly feel like you're making all the wrong decisions? You're definitely not the only one. What's important to know is that more often than not, feeling this way can actually be exacerbating the chronic health symptoms you have been experiencing. In this episode, Rachel and I share how feeling like you're always doing something wrong can be very deeply correlated to chronic health issues. You'll also learn how to feel better about yourself and your choices so that you can move towards better health. It's not that it'll take never making mistakes to get healthier. It's about feeling great about yourself even when you make mistakes (maybe even especially when) that will lead to drastic changes. Thank you for listening and we hope you enjoy! Community: The fun stuff happens over in our Facebook group, The Love Yourself Community, so we hope to see you in there! You can also watch the video version of this episode here. LY 30: Exploring Eidetics With Wendy Yellen

5/31/2018
Wow! Today’s episode was so much fun to record! You’ll get up close and personal with me and my fears during this free live session of Eidetics with the lovely Wendy Yellen. Wendy Yellen is named one of the International Top 3 Transformational Experts in her field. She had a full practice as a social worker for many years before she found eidetics. Eidetics is an ancient art of healing that uses the power of eidetic images, which the Greeks called “gifts from the gods.” Wendy was mentored by the founder and creator of Eidetic Imagery, Dr. Akhter Ahson, for many years, and today, she works with people of heart and integrity who are ready to let go of the old change paradigm that says you have to “make yourself” remember to act in certain ways, or remind yourself how you “should” behave. For this episode, Wendy graciously offered to share with me a free session of eidetics so that you guys could also experience it with me! If you find this work to be beneficial for you or are feeling called to work with Wendy, please go to measiwanttobe.com to apply for a complimentary session with Wendy herself! In other news, I created a new Facebook group specifically for coaches who are passionate about making a great impact in the world but are struggling with blocks. Come check us out on Facebook at The Impactful Coach Collective: facebook.com/groups/impactfulcoaches!
