Taylor also draws the parallel of this new set to the politically charged lost Duran Duran album “Reportage,” simultaneously giving us the history of how the label held the band back from progressing artistically while also highlighting the new material that was considered at the war in Ukraine, Brexit, and the lack of protest songs in pop while the likes of Jason Aldean and Anthony Oliver fill that spot in country music. Robertson's family, who were with him when he died, said this in a statement through his management: "Robertson recently completed his fourteenth film music project with frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon,” the statement continued. “In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Six Nations of the Grand River to support the building of their new cultural center.” Here are the show notes from the original episode's release: Legendary co-founder of The Band Robbie Robertson speaks with Kyle Meredith about Sinematic, his first solo album in eight years, and how it ties in with the score to Martin Scorsese's The Irishman. From there, he discusses his long collaborative history with the legendary filmmaker, one that dates back to The Last Waltz and Raging Bull, and how his knack for writing character studies has been appealing to Scorsese.
