Tomberlin - "Happy Accident" - single [0:00:00] Modem - "Eurooppa" - Megalomania [0:04:21] Sarah Hennies, Richard Valitutto (piano) - "SOVT (excerpt)" - SOVT ["SOVT" is an album containing one 55-minute piece, written for piano by Sarah Hennies in 2017. SOVT stands for Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract which refers to vocal exercises that strengthens the voice by helping the vocal cords vibrate more efficiently. One may practice SOVT exercises by singing with a straw in the mouth which regulates air pressure and reduces strain on the vocal folds. Almost all the strings of the piano in this piece are muted with Blu-Tack poster putty and this along with the rhythmic language of the piece results in a sound that is a hybrid piano/percussion-like sound. By connecting all the strings with putty, a dramatically rich sympathetic vibration occurs throughout the piano similar to the way in which one feels increased vibration in the mouth and throat by singing through a straw. SOVT was originally commissioned by R. Andrew Lee and for this recording was performed by Richard Valitutto, who recorded the work at the Bard College studio in the spring of 2024 with Hennies engineering.] [0:08:26] Nicole Mitchell & Ballaké Sissoko - "Bamako Chicago" - Bamako*Chicago Sound System [album features Fassery Diabaté (on balafon), Joshua Abrams (on bass), Jeff Parker (on guitar), Jovia Armstrong (on percussion), Fatim Kouyaté & Mankwe Ndosi (on vocals), Nicole Mitchell (on flute) & Ballake Sissoko (on kora)] [0:15:54] Onions - "Dark Loops" - Layers: 1975-2004 [Onions is a collective from Texas, who've been recording since the 1970s] [0:24:12] François-Bernard Mache - "Terre de Feu (2nd version)" - Musique Concrete (V/A) [piece composed & recorded in 1963] [0:31:01] Teodora Stepančić & Ordinary Affects - "OA & FG (extracts)" - OA | FG [Stepančić is a Serbian pianist & composer based in NY / Ordinary Affects is an ensemble out of Boston] [0:37:15] Pavel Milyakov & Lucas Dupuy - "Path" - Heal [Milyakov is Berlin-based composer Buttechno & Dupuy is a visual artist & publisher from the UK] [0:42:50] Andres Bosshard, Lorenzo Bruschi, Alexander Balanesku, Isabella Bordini, Pamela Z, Lukas Ligeti, Mai Lingani, & Michael Nyman - "Soiree" - Open Air Radiotopia: Ars Electronica 2002 (V/A) [features Andres Bosshard, Lorenzo Bruschi, Alexander Balanesku, Isabella Bordini, Pamela Z & Lukas Ligetee in Linz, Mai Lingani in Burkina Faso via telephone, & Michael Nyman via telephone in London] [0:47:19] Mats Gustafsson & Joachim Nordwall - "The Day Of Days Were There [vardag]" - Their Power Reached Across Space And Time - To Defy Them Was Death - Or Worse [their 2nd album together / features Mats Gustafsson on flute, reeds & sax & Joachim Nordwall on synths & tape] [0:56:07] Young Hormones - "Egg" - Disk Musik: A DD Records Compilation (V/A) [re-issue of 1985 compilation / Young Hormones is a trio from Japan] [1:09:22] Rolling Stones vs. Temptations - "Rolling Confusion" - Spliced Krispies [AKA 1970's "Ball of Confusion (That's What The World Is Today)" by the Temptations + 1968's "Street Fighting Man" by the Rolling Stones] [1:12:39] Hey-O-Hansen - "Jungle" - We So Horny - Serious Pleasure Riddims [orig 2010 / German duo] [1:16:24] Zoe McPherson - "Salted And Sweet" - Upside Down [“Upside Down” is Zoe's 4th full-length studio album] [1:20:02] Vision Heat - "Waking 'Taking In Today'" - Supplied Themes [1:24:11] Daniela Huerta - "Fondo" - Soplo (Breath) [debut album by Berlin-based Huerta] [1:26:50] Erik Klinga - "Dawn Chorus" - Elusive Shimmer ["thanatosis" is “the ability of an animal to fake death in order to evade a predator or any other unwelcome intrusion.”] [1:30:19] Craven Faults - "Long Stoop" - Bounds [“Bounds” is the 3rd full-length studio album by UK artist Craven Faults] [1:36:14] Maria w Horn - "Stramonium" - Kontrapoetik ["Kontrapoetik" is Horn's debut full-length album] [1:40:11] Tungu, Mia Zabelka, Stefan Strasser - "Cellular Resonances"...

He arrived in Britain on the Kindertransport in 1939 with his older brother. Most of their immediate family were killed in the Holocaust. Metzger envisaged art as a means of communicating the futility and horrors of conflict and war. By 1958, Metzger had become heavily involved in anti-capitalist, anti-consumerist movements and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. In 1960, he was a founder member of the Committee of 100 and this led to a short imprisonment in 1961 with Bertrand Russell and other members of the Committee for encouraging mass non-violent civil disobedience. Metzger's political activism provided the foundation for his first manifesto in 1959, titled ‘Auto-Destructive Art,’ which he described ‘as a desperate last-minute subversive political weapon...an attack on the capitalist system… .’ That year he also created his first auto-destructive artworks by spraying acid onto sheets of nylon, which caused the disintegration of the work itself, as another form of anti-nuclear protest. Metzger went on to organise the seminal Destruction in Art Symposium in London in 1966, centred around destruction-themed events, talks and activities that brought together artists from all over the world. / Erwin Piscator (1893-1966) was a German stage director known for his expressionistic staging techniques and the theatre style of “epic theatre.” Piscator first trained as an actor at the Konig School of Dramatic Art. He later pursued acting and literature in 1913 at the University of Munich and frequently volunteered at the Hof Theatre, where he first began directing plays. In 1915, Piscator was drafted into the German Army, which inspired a deep hatred of militarism and war and later became a reoccurring theme in his plays. Piscator was known as an innovator, particularly in staging: he...
