The Weekly List

Rich and Danny present a full list of people they think should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. To absolutely nobody's surprise, they each have six different names, and they don't completely agree on the other person's list. But it only gets testy for about a minute or so. Plus there's great music.

It's Danny's birthday on Saturday, which means he gets to program the show however he sees fit. He gets the intro. He picks the songs. He did opt out of the haikus, but that is how he wants it. Rich - by and large - behaves himself, but he does offer a few unvarnished opinions regarding Enya.

This week Danny and Rich circle back to a show they had wanted to do in June, but as this is the summer of screwy schedules, were forced to wait until now. Cyndi Lauper is a 16 time Grammy nominee, with two wins. She is an Emmy Award winning actress, and a Tony award winning Broadway composer. In honor of her 70th birthday, your hosts show you exactly why Cyndi Lauper is so much more than the unusual girl who sang about wanting to just have fun, and why she deserves your respect.

In anticipation of what would have been her 80th birthday, Rich and Danny honor the late great Christine McVie. This is the second installment of the boys' unofficial look at Fleetwood Mac through the lens of the band's three most famous singers and songwriters, but they offer a few of her solo songs as well, including two from her debut album when she recorded under her given name, the extremely appropriate, Christine Perfect.

Danny steps aside again this week so Rich can be joined by unofficial third co-host Laura Meyers and Dr. Christi Bostwick, the host of the Every Day Parenting podcast that Rich produces. They talk about the SAVE organization, Suicide Awareness Voices for Education, and the upcoming bike ride in Northfield to promote suicide prevention awareness. They also shower Christi, who has a different take on music than Rich and Laura, with music guaranteed not to make her garden.

This week marks two moments, many people never thought possible. First of all, with Danny unavailable, Rich's daughter Katie Larson steps into the role of co-host to talk about one of her favorite musicians, Taylor Swift. Which is the other thing people would have not thought possible - Rich doing a show about a pop star. But here it is. In honor of Taylor's Eras Tour coming through the Twin Cities this weekend, Rich and Katie bring you a show devoted to the reigning Queen of Pop, Taylor Swift.

Every June, Danny has to sit in his chair while Rich goes on and on about how much he loves his birthday, and 2023 is no different. This year, however, Rich takes an idea that Danny inadvertently gave him, and expands on the list of music from the YEAR 1975 that he was ready to play a couple weeks ago.

Rich and Danny were honored to broadcast live on KYMN Radio during Northfield's Pride in the Park celebration on Saturday, June 3rd. This was not The Weekly List Live at Pride. This was the two of them talking with Northfield civic leaders, including Representative Kristi Pursell, Northfield Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matt Hillmann, Northfield City Councilor Davin Sokup, and the boys' new bestie, Mrs. Moxie.

After getting their signals crossed, Danny is forced to take the show over. The boys discuss Danny's newest most favourite band of all time, even as Rich wonders why they aren't playing Fleetwood Mac, Minnie Riperton and Olivia Newton-John.

On the eve of her 75th birthday, Rich and Danny take a long look at the career of Stevie Nicks. Is she the greatest female rock star of all time? Does every man who meets her fall in love with her? Is her solo career more reflective of her talent than her work in Fleetwood Mac? Is she a witch? They talk about all the things. Also, they both agree on the fact that she is a goddess.

This week the show is live from Imminent Brewing, and Rich and Danny are joined by Northfield's favorite and most fabulous Drag Queen, Mrs. Moxie. Some of it is really funny. Some of it is really real. Just like life, only way more sparkly.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to sit around and listen to Billy Joel with our two hosts? Well, this week, gentle listeners, Rich and Danny offer you a peak behind the curtain. Celebrating Billy Joel's 74th birthday (two days belated), the two essentially do the same thing they've been doing for 36 years. They play a bunch of random Billy Joel songs, and talk about the guy who sort of brought this pair together.

On Gregg Alexander's 53rd birthday, Danny and Rich spend the night breaking down the one album his band New Radicals made, the pop masterpiece Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too.

Rich and Danny are joined by Jeff Johnson, the owner of KYMN radio, to discuss selections from Bob Dylan's book The Philosophy of Modern Song. Three guys talking about music at a high level, but gosh they are entertaining.

This week, Rich and Danny breakdown the brilliant, brief, not-quite-stable career of The Police. And they get into a little bit about whether or not Sting ever wrote a song about a wizard.

Wrapping up Women's History Month, Rich and danny are joined by - are you kidding? - Rich's wife Annie. (Again!) Annie has programmed an entire show of women that she feels the boys should have featured during the month of March, and takes them to task for leaving Missy Elliott off of their Hall of Fame ballots. The fun part of the show is that neither Rich nor Danny know what songs she is playing until she plays them, and the boys have to give their honest, unplanned take on each of them.

Rich and Danny and Laura Meyers honor the Queen of Soul on what would have been her 81st birthday, discussing her versatility, her longevity, her influence and her legacy. Also, don't miss Rich and Danny's delightful discussion about the greatest guitar player of all time.

Rich and Danny take some time to recognize that March is Women's History Month and to play some music made by women that they have been listening to lately.

This week Rich and Danny have what you would call a long form discussion about Carole King's landmark album, Tapestry. And in Ms. King's honor, they do not argue or insult each other (although Rich almost slips a couple times.)

Rich and Danny review the 2023 list of nominees for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. As usual, they agree on some things and disagree on Iron Maiden.
