With 10 games before Four Nations break and trade deadline approaching, Matvei Michkov & Philadelphia Flyers can get back into race
1/20/2025
Matvei Michkov has fallen out of favor over the last few weeks, falling behind Macklin Celebrini, Lane Hutson and even Dustin Wolf in the Calder Trophy race. But a recent hot streak has re-opened the possibility for The Mad Russian to get back into the conversation.
Similarly, the Flyers looked to be trending towards the basement with a 5-10-2 stretch from December 5th through January 9th. But with 4 wins and 9 points in their last 5 games, the Orange & Black are right back in it.
Bill & Charlie discuss both the Calder & playoff races, as well as the decision to call up Rodrigo Ābols after placing Ryan Poehling on IR.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Matvei Michkov & special teams help grind out a win against the Devils
1/18/2025
It wasn’t pretty, but the Philadelphia Flyers worked hard to secure a victory over the Devils in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
A low event game that only saw 32 shots on goal and over 50 total blocks, the Flyers PK & PP stepped up to beat one of the best teams in the east.
Charlie, Bill & Steve break down the win and look at Philly’s playoff push.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Travis Konecny‘s big 2nd period sinks Islanders
1/16/2025
The first period of Thursday’s matchup with the Islanders was marred by a questionable hit that knocked Ryan Poehling out of the game, and the emotions after that put the Flyers at a 1-0 deficit after 20 minutes.
But Philadelphia responded with a 3-goal middle frame, and an 11-6 shot advantage highlighted by some huge setups from Travis Konecny.
The Isles showed life in the 3rd but a Cam York goal stemmed the tide and propelled the Orange & Black to victory.
Charlie & Bill break down the win, and big games for Morgan Frost & Joel Farabee.

Trade? Re-sign? Need time? What should Tortorella & Briere do with long-tenured Flyers players?
1/15/2025
John Tortorella and his staff have been behind the Philadelphia Flyers’ bench for 209 games, as of Tuesday night’s matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
And while the Orange & Black have managed to cycle in some new, young players in that time, much of the lineup has been here for at least a part of Torts’ two-and-a-half seasons. Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee, Rasmus Ristolainen, Cam York and many others need to have decisions made about their future in one way or another soon, and it’s time to start talking about what those decisions could mean for the long term.
Charlie & Bill discuss potential trades & re-signings with the Trade Deadline approaching. Plus, Charlie & Bill reveal their Quarter-Century Teams!

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Zach Werenski scores twice, Columbus Blue Jackets win shootout
1/14/2025
The Philadelphia Flyers hadn’t won more than 2 straight games since the end of November, and that streak continues after a shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Looking for only their second win in the backend of a back-to-back this season, Bobby Brink and Owen Tippett lit the lamp for the Orange and Black in a surprisingly low-scoring game while Zach Werenski put 2 pucks behind Ivan Fedotov.
Charlie & Bill break down the shootout loss, the continued strong play of Noah Cates, and John Tortorella’s pending decisions on the lineup and goaltending.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Noah Cates & Philly’s power play outlast defending champion Florida Panthers
1/13/2025
Despite a rough first period that saw the Philadelphia Flyers fall 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Orange & Black defeated the Florida Panthers 4-3 for their second straight win.
The Philly power play scored twice, as did Noah Cates, to fuel the big victory.
Charlie, Kelly & Bill break down the win, and whether players like Morgan Frost & Matvei Michkov can continue to ride this momentum.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: winless 2025 continues with loss to Dallas Stars on Ed Snider Legacy Night
1/9/2025
Despite showing signs of life in the 3rd period, the Philadelphia Flyers lost their fourth straight game to open 2025, falling to the Dallas Stars on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Stars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and never looked back, as the Orange & Black put up little fight in the first 40 minutes of Ed Snider Legacy night.
Bill & Steve break down the loss, evaluate Sam Ersson’s return from injury, and discuss if this is a sign of what’s to come in the second half.

1/8/2025
The Philadelphia Flyers played their 41st game of the season on Tuesday night, marking the end of the first half of the 2024-25 season.
Travis Konecny is on pace for 41 goals, Matvei Michkov has flashed greatness and the goaltenders have been the worst in the league.
Charlie, Kelly & Bill share their grades, biggest surprises and disappointments from the first half, as well as discuss John Tortorella’s role in The Mad Russian’s development.
Oh, and it’s also the anniversary of the Cutter Gauthier for Jamie Drysdale (and a 2nd!) trade.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Travis Konecny scores twice, Maple Leafs sweep home-and-home
1/7/2025
It came down to some late heroics by Joseph Woll but Toronto was able to hold on for the regulation win in the Flyers first game back in Philly since December 21.
Travis Konecny scored twice to give him six career 20-goal seasons but ultimately it wasn’t enough.
Kelly & Bill break down the loss and discuss the first half of the Flyers season.

Making sense of Flyers place in standings and John Tortorella’s decisions
1/6/2025
Where is this Philadelphia Flyers season going? By points-percentage they’re 23rd in the league, 10th from the bottom. They’re also 2 points out of the last Stanley Cup Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Charlie & Bill step back on a snowy Monday to discuss how they think the 2nd half of the season will play out, and how John Tortorella’s handling of Matvei Michkov, Sean Couturier and the goaltenders could come into play down the stretch.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Ivan Fedotov impresses after month-long layoff, but loses in OT
1/5/2025
Ivan Fedotov was a bit of an adventure between the pipes for the first 20 minutes, but was mostly solid in the 2nd and 3rd, earning the Flyers a point and forcing overtime, stopping 22 of 24 Toronto shots in regulation.
Unfortunately, the Flyers couldn’t hold the Leafs off 3v3 and after a Matvei Michkov 1-on-1 chance, Toronto came back down the ice and scored off the rush for the win.
Charlie & Bill break down the loss and assess the play of Fedotov, Michkov and the Noah Cates line.

Can Danny Briere let the Flyers keep the league’s worst goaltending?
1/3/2025
The Philadelphia Flyers 3 goalies have combined for a save-percentage below .880. While the Orange and black don’t have designs on a Stanley Cup Playoff run, the idea is to play competitive games and that’s nearly impossible with the worst goaltending in the NHL.
Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss if something should be done to replace Aleksei Kolosov and/or the other netminders who haven’t been much better.
Plus, a look into the rumors surrounding the Vancouver Canucks and whether the Flyers should be interested in JT Miller or Elias Pettersson.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Vegas lights too bright for Aleksei Kolosov
1/3/2025
Tyson Foerster put the Flyers up 1-0 only 21 seconds into the first period, but it was Aleksei Kolosov who was the biggest story of the game, allowing a number of soft goals in an otherwise fairly well played loss for Philadelphia.
Charlie & Bill break down the loss and discuss what can be done about Kolosov and the goaltending struggles for the Flyers.
Duration:01:03:20
PHLY Flyers Postgame: Ersson & Kolosov team up for NYE shutout in San Jose
12/31/2024
The Philadelphia Flyers closed out 2024 with a decisive win over the San Jose Sharks and Macklin Celebrini.
John Tortorella rolled 4 lines against the lowly Sharks, and Philly stymied San Jose for most of the night, limiting their offensive opportunities and taking advantage of a healthy shot differential.
Bill, Charlie & Kelly ring in the new year breaking down the Orange & Black‘s victory and discussing the Calder Trophy favorites.

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Michkov cold streak ends, but Kings win 5-4
12/30/2024
Matvei Michkov is officially back, scoring a goal and picking up an assist for his 10th career multi-point game to break a 7-game slump, but it wasn’t enough to outscore the LA Kings on Sunday night.
Charlie & Bill break down the loss, and discuss Michkov finding the back of the net, Laughton’s hot streak, Aleksei Kolosov & more!
Duration:01:03:00
PHLY Flyers Postgame: Cates, Frost stay hot as Flyers roll past Cutter Gauthier and the Ducks
12/28/2024
The Flyers stole the first game for the Gauthier vs. Drysdale matchup, winning 3-1 in Anaheim.
Sam Ersson had a strong bounce back performance, Noah Cates and Morgan Frost each potted a goal, and even Joel Farabee finally netted one late into the 3rd to seal the deal.
Bill, Charlie, and Kelly react to the game and preview the Flyers’ matchup tomorrow.
Duration:01:00:38
PHLY Flyers Postgame: Couturier’s dad strength not enough to beat Crosby, Penguins
12/24/2024
Sean Couturier celebrated the birth of his newborn son with a goal in the 2nd period, but the Flyers just did not have enough to overcome Sidney Crosby’s 3 assist first period and a lackluster performance from Sam Ersson.
Charlie, Kelly & Bill breakdown the loss, and how Sam Ersson’s recent play could open the door for Aleksei Kolosov and maybe even Ivan Fedotov.
Plus, FESTIVUS!

PHLY Flyers Postgame: Morgan Frost’s 2 goals fuels Flyers’ comeback win over Columbus
12/22/2024
After finding themselves in a 2-0 hole early in the 2nd period, the Flyers tied the game 3 times in the 3rd period, and escaped with a miraculous 4-3 overtime win over Columbus Blue Jackets courtesy of Owen Tippett.
Charlie, Tyler, and Steve discuss tonight’s win and what’s next for the Orange and Black with their lengthy upcoming road trip.

Flyers demote Emil Andrae, don’t make trade before NHL Holiday Roster Freeze
12/20/2024
Coming off a 7-3 loss to the LA kings, Danny Briere made one move before the clock struck midnight and rosters froze for the Christmas holiday, sending Emil Andrae back to the AHL Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
While the Flyers passed on making a trade before the freeze, there’s plenty going on on Broad Street between Cam York getting scratched, Matvei Michkov’s slump and much more.
Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss the orange & black’s cold streak, potential roster shakeups, and goaltenders live from the Reading Terminal Market.
