As the international community expresses hope the pause might lead to a lasting ceasefire, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns Israel will resume its military operations once the truce is over. Tributes paid to football legend Terry Venables

Venables was a popular and charismatic figure who led England to the semi-finals of the European Championship in 1996, and managed Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and the Socceroos. But some scientists say greater attention should be placed on the role of animals in controlling the carbon cycle - suggesting the introduction of even a targeted group of species to some ecosystems could be enough to keep global temperatures below the 1.5 degree Celsius tipping point.
