Pennies from Kevin: Say "Good Job" more often to other black people
5/15/2020
This morning I wrote a story about the 10 Questions most asked to me about radio. As I have done for the past 25 years I went into it blindly not knowing (or thinking) that I cared what people thought.
Over the years I have often been surprised when people have stopped me to tell me how much a story that I wrote meant to them or how I have been an inspiration to them and I will readily admit, I've been insulted and judged enough in my life to think that if black people don't say ANYTHING, it's better than them saying something that will probably be insulting. My rearing brought me to that conclusion and I am consistently working on putting an end to it.

It's OK to be a Little Selfish, Pennies from Kevin Podcast
10/7/2019
Recently while having lunch with a business colleague she said something that stuck with me.
Her words were "the other day I went back to my office and I knocked everything off my desk that wasn't bringing me a profit." that was incredibly powerful to me. And I kept thinking about that statement.
There are several ways to look at this ... you can say I'm getting rid of everything that isn't making money but I always think a bit deeper and what I was thinking is anything that isn't bearing fruit of course AFTER YOU plant the seeds. It is (listen to podcast)

Never Let the Dust Settle (keep kicking)
4/22/2019
Today we live in a society where people constantly talk about addiction, childhood traumas and a lack of motivation.
Something that is rarely if ever covered that certainly drives depression. a lack of motivation and an inability to move in a greater direction is settling.
What do I mean by that? Settling is sacrificing what you really want for what you think you need. It’s working a job every day that you hate, having friends how are never going to go anywhere in life, Not realizing...

How to Put Together a Great Team for a Project
9/30/2018
How to Put Together a Great Team for a Project There is nothing better than having the right team for whatever project that you’re working on it helps Drive the vehicle. But having the wrong team can drive your vehicle off a cliff or crashing into an 18 wheeler while you are trying to tend to the whiny and needy adult baby people in the backseat. Two things that it took me a really long time to grasp is: it’s never wise to hire people who think that working is not their thing … and the economy is not to blame for some people not working, it’s their attitude, lack of drive and motivation and negatively. Its not that they can’t find work nobody wants to work WITH them. Also, there are lazy, negative and insecure people from all walks of life but the greater your pool the greater your chances for success. Never limit yourself.

Time, Value and Energy: Most Valuable Assets
9/4/2018
The three most valuable assets in our lives are not what we think they are: Not love, it's not money it's not fame it's not the fortune but it's, time, value and energy. I would say purpose but you create purpose with time, value and energy just like you do everything else. Everything comes back to those three things. Time, Value and Energy. How much time do you have to devote to something that is not going to benefit you or your purpose? How much value is there in pursuing people, clients or situations that have a negative return? How much energy do you have to spare by being drained with futile efforts that you KNEW were not going to work before you invested … your time value and energy into them

5/30/2018
Many times we are told to forgive the people who have done us wrong and that makes sense too many of us but it actually doesn’t make sense to your well-being, when you think about it. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t forgive people when they’ve done you wrong, but consider that there is a very good chance they don’t even know they’ve done you wrong or that they have forgotten about it or even worse, they remember but they don’t care. So who is really at the greater loss? You! You are the person that you should forgive, and there are only two ways to put an end to the situation. Address them or … (play podcast)

Instruction Over Emotion

We are constantly surrounded by instructions as well as instructors. It’s not just a piece of paper that comes with the TV stand that you just got it’s about life and what happens and how we respond to it. Walking Out: When Subtraction is Actually Addition
3/6/2018
In the game of life there are several things that are really out of our control like people walking out of our life. Initially, we may ask ourselves what happened? But obviously, that’s none of your business. To that end, If you live long enough you say, that NEEDED to happen. Rarely do people walk out of your life because they didn’t do something for YOU it is almost always because you didn’t do something for THEM, this means that everything “good” that you have done doesn’t count because the one perceived negative thing they think that you did is paramount. This means you (listen to the rest on the podcast)

Dumping Your Trash on Your Friends?
2/14/2018
No matter how hard you try to listen allowing someone to dump their trash on you it is alwys going to make you one thing … exhausted. - Of course there are times that we all need an ear and you can listen but proceed with caution and make sure there is a bed nearby so you can take a nap after you listen.
Needless to say, complaining is what therapy is for and many people don’t know that THERAPISTS have to have THERAPY to unload the stuff that people load onto THEM. We have our own trash to take out and we’ve got to walk it to the curb. The garbage man is not coming to your door to have coffee and ask about each item in the trash bag and how it got there nor does he get paid for your explanation. So before you pick up the phone and hijack someone’s energy, note that they have their (listen to podcast)

Pennies from Kevin Podcast: Asking for and GETTING What you Want!
1/30/2018
When it comes to business or life our greatest asset is not money, love or networking but it’s your time. How we USE it will determine if we have the best love, the most money or the opportunities to network properly. Are you using your time wisely? When we do things that are not aligned with our best interest, we not only waste time but we lose the energy to use additional time wisely. So ADDITIONAL time is wasted. We get energy from being in sink with what we desire and what flows with the direction that we are going in. So as far as the things that we can control, there should be no excuse to … (listen to podcast)

Be Like Time, Wait for Nothing
1/14/2018
If waiting is sleeping, then dreaming is doing!
When you sleep, you rest when you dream you can DO….
When I look back on the time that I wasted WATING for someone or something to improve my situation, it actually makes me mad. Like most people I was ignorant to the fact that I was in control of my destiny and I was also taught by the generation before me, in the entertainment industry to keep my mouth shut and my ears open.
Truth be told doing that may allow you to keep a job but it won’t make you very successful. In many cases, it will make you a slave to other people’s determination of how high you can climb. And in most cases, it won’t be at your greatest potential…. (listen to podcast) #motivation #podcast

Not long ago I started an additional venture which I had no idea would take off like it did. it became huge, bigger than I had ever anticipated, unfortunately, I didn’t have the time or the manpower to tend to it. You have to be careful when you venture out and do something that you’re passionate about. you never know if it’s going to take off. But there is a good chance that it will. Well it did and at the end of the day I tried to put together a team way too fast to make it work and they weren’t ready nor were they really interested. They were blind because they didn’t see my vision and I gave up on it myself because I became overwhelmed with other things.
