44% of victims of sexual abuse are under age 18. 93% of juvenile sexual assault victims know their attacker. Kicking off our new series on sexual abuse, show hosts Yvonne Allen and Tamra Wade share their personal and very emotional stories of systemic childhood sexual abuse. Tamra has been interviewed by RAINN, Rape Incest National Network for their July Survivor Spotlight. Tamra is also a RAINN Speakers Bureau member. Please note that neither Yvonne nor Tamra represent RAINN, they are speaking purely from their own perspectives. Additionally, neither the show hosts nor this radio entity presume to know your personal situation. If you or someone you know is being sexually abused past or presently, please reach out for help. This will not be something that you should shoulder by yourself. If you are a person supporting a survivor, keep telling them that its okay to tell. Sexual abuse is a crime. Reporting and getting help from trained service providers is critical to healing. You may also find direction and assistance through RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE or www.rainn.org
