388: Unmet Expectations

10/22/2024
Do you ever get frustrated when things don't go as planned, especially when you're hoping for something simple, like having a meal together with your family? I recently had one of those moments. After fasting for Yom Kippur, I had this picture-perfect idea of breaking the fast with my family around the dinner table. But as I walked home from prayer services, I started to fume, convinced that they’d already started eating without me. Instead of letting the frustration boil over, I used a tool I created called The CLEAR Way, which helped me prepare for whatever I might walk into. And I’m so glad I did, because when I got home, my boys were sitting at the kitchen island, already eating! 😤 But because I had mentally prepared myself, I calmly asked if they’d like to sit down at the table with me. And guess what? They did. It wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t turn into a drama. I didn’t get mad, I didn’t hold a grudge—and that made all the difference. Handling unmet expectations without spiraling into frustration is possible for all of us. It just takes some practice and the right tools. 🎯 I share the full story in this week’s podcast. 387: Pet Peeves

10/10/2024
Do you ever get annoyed by those little things people do that just grate on your nerves? 🙃 Maybe it’s someone chewing loudly, leaving dirty dishes in the sink, or texting during a conversation. Those are called pet peeves, and we all have them. I’ve been thinking about mine lately—especially when it comes to my husband. One of my big ones? When he answers for other people like he knows what they’re thinking! 😤 The other night, it happened again at dinner, and I felt that familiar frustration creeping up. But instead of letting it ruin the evening, I used The unSTUCK Method to help me process my emotions and move on—without causing unnecessary drama. The truth is, pet peeves often say more about us than the other person. They stem from our preferences or sensitivities, and how we choose to react is really our responsibility. In this week’s episode of the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast, I share the full story and how you can manage your reactions to those everyday annoyances. You don’t want to miss it! 🎧✨ Tune in and see how you can get unstuck from your own pet peeves. Shira 💛 P.S. Pet peeves may never go away, but how we handle them can change everything! www.shiragura.com

386: Drama, Stories, and Missiles from Iran

10/1/2024
I wanted to share something unexpected that happened just a few hours ago while recording this week's episode of the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast. The theme of today's episode was drama, and life certainly delivered. As I was recording, Iran began launching ballistic missiles at Israel, triggering sirens that sent us rushing to our safe rooms. In the rush, I dropped the mic but forgot to pause the recording. When it was safe to return, I discovered the recording was still running. I've decided to keep this part in the episode to keep things authentic and real. Please be aware that you'll hear this interruption around minute 7 or 8 of the episode. I share this not only to prepare you but to reflect on how crucial it is for us to manage our responses, especially in unexpected and challenging times. Wishing us all peace and safety, and the strength to get unstuck, even in the toughest moments. Love, Shira P.S. Imagine how much better our world could be if everyone knew how to use the tools to handle anything life throws our way. www.shiragura.com

385: Consider a Do Over

9/24/2024
Ever wished you could hit a "reset" button on a conversation gone wrong? 🔄 I sure have! This week on the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast, I'm diving into the concept of a "do over" and sharing a personal story that might just change the way you approach misunderstandings. A couple of weeks ago, a simple misunderstanding about a dentist appointment spiraled into unnecessary frustration between me and my husband. Instead of letting it ruin our day, I proposed a "do over" – literally reenacting the conversation to see if we could handle it differently. 😲 Curious to see how it turned out? Click here to tune into this week's episode and discover the power of resetting your reactions. You might just find yourself inspired to press "reset" the next time a conversation doesn't go as planned! www.shiragura.com

Jamie has graciously allowed us to delve into her journey of self-reflection and the profound changes it has brought to her life. 🌱 Tune in to hear Jamie's story and discover how you, too, can harness the power of self-reflection to foster growth and make more mindful choices in life. www.shiragura.com

9/10/2024
Ever find yourself on the brink of a kitchen squabble over something as simple as boiling eggs? That happened to me recently, and it turned into an unexpected lesson in managing frustrations and choosing my battles. In the midst of me boiling some eggs, my husband came in out of nowhere and decided to switch pots to save energy—a small action that unexpectedly sparked a big internal reaction from me. I'm curious - would this have annoyed you? How do you think you would have reacted? Tune in to this week's "You Can Handle Anything" podcast to hear how I handle this very irritating situation with the help of The unSTUCK Method. www.shiragura.com

382: This World Needs to Take a STOP

9/3/2024
This week's episode of the "You Can Handle Anything" podcast will be different. After the heart-wrenching news of the execution of six hostages in Israel, including Hersh Goldberg-Polin, a friend of friends, I found myself deeply affected. In light of this, I invite you to join me in taking a moment to pause—a stop that feels necessary right now, not just for me but perhaps for many of us. 🌍 In this episode, I share some music I've recently created, intended to accompany our moment of reflection. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to reconnecting with you next week. www.shiragura.com

380: Getting Stuck and Feeling Shame

8/20/2024
In this podcast episode, I explore the common yet often unspoken issue of shame that many people feel when confronting negative emotions, getting emotionally stuck, or facing relationship problems. It's incredibly normal to feel embarrassed about needing tools to manage one's emotional health, but this shame is truly unnecessary. Once individuals join a supportive community, they quickly realize that everyone faces similar challenges, and there is great power and relief in shared experiences. By acknowledging and accepting these feelings openly, members can move past shame and work towards genuine improvement and empowerment together. This collective journey highlights the universality of emotional struggles and the benefits of facing them head-on. Learn more: www.shiragura.com

378: Language and Your Well-Being

8/6/2024
In this podcast episode, I discuss the significant role of language in managing emotions and enhancing well-being. The term "stuck" is pivotal in my approach; recognizing when you're "stuck" on an emotion is crucial because it signals that there's a method to help you move forward. I encourage rephrasing emotional states, such as changing "I'm angry" to "I'm stuck on anger," to remind ourselves that emotions are temporary states we can navigate through. The ability to articulate feelings accurately not only helps in identifying emotions but also in adopting new perspectives to shift them. This mastery of language and its application in everyday life, as shared through personal and family experiences, underscores how powerful and transformative clear communication can be in resolving emotional challenges. www.shiragura.com

377: Taking Personal Responsibility

7/30/2024
This podcast focuses on the importance of taking personal responsibility, especially when feeling emotionally stuck. Often, the instinct is to blame others for our feelings, but this approach means we're not fully owning our part. Taking personal responsibility involves acknowledging, owning, and processing our own thoughts and emotions. By doing so, we reduce blame and better understand the true sources of our suffering, rather than projecting responsibility onto others. If more people embraced this mindset, it could lead to significant improvements in personal well-being and interpersonal relationships across the globe. 376: The Brat Pack and Andrew McCarthy

7/16/2024
This week's "You Can Handle Anything" is going to be slightly different than usual. Instead of sharing one of my stories, I'm going to share with you someone else's. And that "someone else" is the actor, Andrew McCarthy. I'm going to dive into the intriguing story of Andrew McCarthy and the infamous "Brat Pack" label that shaped his career. The film captures his journey as he revisits old friends and questions whether the label or his reaction to it caused more harm. It’s a powerful example of how external labels can trap us, and what it takes to break free and reclaim our identity. Click here to tune in and perhaps consider labels in your own life and the impact they've had on you. If you’re in the Unstuck Revolution and have thoughts on the documentary, I’d love to hear them! Let’s discuss how we can apply these insights to our own paths to becoming unstuck. https://courses.shiragura.com/the-unstuck-revolution/
