We start off a new week with the latest in some brief sports media news and takes, as host T.J. Rives returns on the Monday edition of the "daily" of our podcasts. T.J. goes over the wild and exciting finishes of the college football championship games that included Georgia winning dramatically in OT (again) this time over Texas on ABC to get the SEC auto bid. This, despite the wild finishes for Oregon-Penn St in the Big Ten title game on CBS (for the first time) and Clemson-SMU, agains on ABC in primetime. Also, on Sunday morning, Action Network College Football insider Brett McMurphy (formerly of CBS Sports and of course, ESPN) revealed before the ESPN College Football Playoff reveal show that SMU had made the 12 team field, but Alabama had not. T.J. has more about McMurphy's tremendous abiltiy to break big college football news and how it's his job to do so. On Sunday, another huge slate of games in the NFL took place, incuding the Rams beating Buffalo in a high scoring, exciting game in the late Fox game from Los Angeles. But, the bigger broadcast news was that Tom Brady was fighting a bad voice for the game. T.J. has more about it. And, what reporter/outlet had the scoop first in Major League Baseball that prized outfielder free agent Juan Soto had agreed with the New York Mets Sunday night? Also, T.J. discusses the Thrusday public reveal by former ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski or "Woj" that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. NFL Thanksgiving TV Numbers, Randy Moss Mystery Eye Illness, Controversy With Coverage Of NCAA Volleyball, Etc | LWOS Media Podcast

12/3/2024
It's a brand new edition of our Pod, as hosts T.J. Rives and Mike Gill return off the Thanksgiving weekend holiday to talk about a myriad of subjects this week in sports media. They go over The Thanksgiving Day NFL games and the TV ratings and more. Plus, is Tom Brady loosening up some for Fox Sports' booth coverage? Also, NBC's Mike Tirico is broadcasting while injured. They explain. Next, retired NFL star turned ESPN analyst Randy Moss revealed live on the "Sunday Countdown" show that he has an illness that is affecting his eyes and vision and has to wear sunglasses due to the bright TV lights. There's discussion about the College Football end of the regular season and heading to championship weekend for all the conferences. Plus, what prominent national media member was advocating that Ohio St. has get rid of coach Ryan Day for repeatedly losing to Michigan, as it's more important that results in the College Football Playoff? Finally, T.J. goes over the lack of coverage in naming the controversial San Jose St. volleyball player, Blaire Fleming, who is a biological male and is being allowed to play women's volleyball. There have been forfeits by Mountain West Conference teams in the regular season and even, last weekend in the tournament semi-final. Yet, ESPN, the Athletic and other news outlets won't say or print the name (that we just wrote) at the center of the controversy. This is, despite Fleming being an adult and on the SJSU website with a bio, named in their game notes, introduced on the P.A. at games and is part of two different massive lawsuits recently for Title IX violations and an attempted injunction by schools to keep the Spartans out of the MWC women's volleyball tourney. It's crazy and it's discussed. It's all part of the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe to this feed on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!

Bears Media Debacle With Coach Eberflus + Preview Of Weekend Football | LWOS Media Daily 11 29 24

11/29/2024
It's the "Black Friday" edition of our daily pod off the Thanksgiving holiday. Host T.J. Rives returns and goes over the wild and stupid ending to the Lions vs. Bears Thanksgiving game on CBS Thursday afternoon. It has ended up costing Chicago coach Matt Eberflus his job on Friday. But, there's more! Why did the Bears make their coach face the media Friday morning without firing him first? It certainly looks like ineptitude from their ownership and front office. Next, will the Amazon Prime Friday afternoon ratings be hindered by a bad Las Vegas Raiders team, even though they are against the Kansas City Chiefs? Or, will Patrick Mahomes' popularity transcend the bad opponent in the audience for a stand alone game. And, finaly, what about all the rivalries in College Football for Saturday and will the Ohio State-Michigan audience soar for Fox Sports or could the Texas-Texas A&M renewal of their rivalry top it?
